Rear side window louvers for Malibu wagon?

Postby malibu80 on Thu Nov 26, 2009 12:31 am

Came across something I've never heard of while surfing. In this ad for sale was a set of rear side window louvers for a 78-83 Malibu wagon. Has anybody seen such louvers on wagons?

Never heard of such an animal. If you can post a pic or link to this item for us to scrutinize that would be cool.

I ended up purchasing the louvers. I don't even own a wagon. I just uploaded a pix but don't know how to attach it to this post.

On the long rear side glass? That's very interesting. Where did you get them from?

Thanks Blake for attaching the pix. I stumbled across these on Craigslist while looking for parts for my 83 Malibu. The ad sat on Craigslist for quite sometime and my curiousity got the better of me. Decided to go have a look and ended up buying them. According to the seller these were purchased a long time ago by his brother. He got tired of storing it for him and decided to sell it. Don't know who made these things since there is no manufacturer sticker anywhere. Only if I owned a wagon (lowered with 17's, Ls1 6speed, Corvette brakes), I'd love to see how these things look installed.

I assume that these are a clip-on item. I couldn't see them actually replacing the vent window assemblies. Perhaps you can stop a wagon owner, try them out, and take a pic or two of them installed.
I suppose they wouldn't look bad with tinted windows.

They look like the louvers you used to see on 70's "F" bodies way back when. We could try them out on my wagon, where are you? ROAD TRIP! "Where are you going?" "I'm driving a thousand miles to see what something would look like on my car. Be back soon".

Looks like the small tabs slide in behind the window trim around the 1/4 windows to hold them in place.
Meaning they'd only work for the '78-'80 cars with the aluminum 1/4 trim, and not the '81-'83 cars with the stupid molded vinyl bullshit.

I have the earlier aluminum quarter moldings and would be willing try 'em out and take pics of them installed.
