What did you do to your G-Body today 2024

Actually this brings up a thought and question, Will CLR purge a radiator core of the "salt" deposits around the tubes? Nick

    Iraqi Taxi

The ones I got to go head to head with were already in the salvage yards so became a good source for bellhousings and clutch linkage components. As to why they got manual boxes when the automatics were easier to drive? Well, a few reasons, the Iraquis or Saudis or whoever was supposed to be...

    Could Pontiac be coming back?!?

$175,000 USD???? OWWWW--CHHH!!! That would translate into around a quarter Mil when the taxes and pre-delivery dealer prep is added in. Around here that is about as much as a decent house can cost and the choice becomes much simpler when you factor in trying to sleep in a cold car in the...

The tale of the storage unit auction mystery car.

Bummer. You are aware, I trust, that Murphy's Law is completely applicable in this situation and therefore, as soon as you sell off those parts, a suitably useable cabin in decent shape will make an appearance?? Nick

What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2023]

Now you have me wondering about the 78 Sedan de Ville that quietly reposes in Bay Three, the one we never talk about, in my garage. It did get driven in under its own power but that was over a decade ago. Left the driver's window down when I pulled the battery just so I could get in and out...

What did you do to your G-Body today 2024

So a few weeks back I managed to get up onto the mezzanine deck and locate and retrieve the radiator that had been in my Monte prior to the start of its rehabilitation. This week, while doing a major cleanup and sorting of all the debris that had accumulated over time, I elected to bring it...

    Anyone hear of Labwork carburetors?

Why do you think the Brits drank/drink their beer and booze at room temperature?. Lucas, prince of darkness was also the manufacturer who was responsible for the production of refrigerators over there. Nick

    Anyone hear of Labwork carburetors?

Pictorially, that looks very much like either an Amal concentric carb from a Triumph or BSA or a VM 32/34 Mikuni Barrel Slide carburetor such as was offered for snow machines and various japanese rides. The only apparent difference seems to be that the float bowl is held in place by a bale or...

    Anyone hear of Labwork carburetors?

Plus one on the ultra sonic cleaner idea. You can even build one for yourself as a side bar project as they can be created in varying sizes according to need or necessity. Nick

    Fuel issue - Stumped

    Cool, good to know. Nick

Went & did some tire kicking

On that brake front, might be worth a thought or two to add the main line between the proportioning valve and the rear brake hose to the list of stuff to investigate. You might be looking at a full plumbing redo including the hoses, simply due to old age, rust, and internal rot and collapse. Nick

Anyone have knowledge on this car

Again, possibly a trick of the eye but it almost looks like the car in the picture is sitting lower. The cue for me is how close the tire sits in relation to the eyebrow of the fender opening. Possible that the car has been fitted with shorter rear coil springs to bring it down a inch or so...

The tale of the storage unit auction mystery car.

Oh yeah, it fixes the hestitation all right.............. by totally stiffling the fuel flow!! It definitely won't hesitate if it won't start or run. And, that point, your stumble bum of an engine has now become a total non running turnip. Nick

    Fuel issue - Stumped

So quit scratching all ready. If you are going to be attempting to purge the existing lines, now might be a good time to consider bumping your line size. For feed go to -8 or 1/2 inch with a 3/8s return. and bump the vent/tank breather line to 3/8ths as well, because if it is operational then...

    Fuel issue - Stumped

Back on the topic of hose for just a skinny minute here, Do you happen to know the diameters of the hard lines that were fabricated or installed to handle fuel delivery and return? Coming from the factory, what may have been installed could have been a 5/16ths steel fuel delivery, plus two...

    tools

Oh, yeah, the plus list would include both oil and anti-freeze, plus some ATF and power steering fluid. and windshield washer fluid too. Yeah, yeah, overkill but................ya can have it with and never use it, or you can leave it behind because ya never needed it in the past...

The tale of the storage unit auction mystery car.

One other thought did occur to me this morning; that being what you found were the leftovers. By that I mean that at some point there was a project and that these parts were aquired as part of what was thought might be needed but, for whatever reason, they never were used, or did not have to be...

Can anyone tell me what this is

Could try taking a good hard look at the various tabs and the upper and lower control arm hanger brackets that are welded to the tubes. The factory welds tend to have fairly clean and finished appearances. If the tabs look as if they were cut away from a donor rear end and grafted on to that...

The tale of the storage unit auction mystery car.

So you have one storage unit with the parts shown in the pics. Me from left field here but what if, there is more than just that single storage unit? Scenario that comes to my mind is that For whatever reason, the then owner tore down his M/Carlo SS to the nuts and the bolts. A Monte...

    tools

When Napa had them on special, I acquired a couple of those wrench and socket sets that were offered in the blown plastic briefcases. What they include as basic tools will suffice for most minor issues. If long ranging or on vacation, I'd be adding a 2.5T baby floor jack along with Long Arm...
