Is it normal for the MC solenoid to start clicking when you first turn on the ignition? It clicks about 10-12 times and then goes silent. And if it doesn't does this mean the MC is dead?

The M/C solenoid is supposed to cycle at 10 hertz (10 times a second) with key on, engine off for a minute or two.

Thanks. Wasn't sure. Good to know. I'm rebuilding the carb this weekend and now I don't need to replace the MC.
Do an ohm check on it while you do the rebuild. Needs to be >10 ohms and you're good. Mine came in right at 25. It's in my thread of the carb rebuild. Here's the post of what to check for.
