So today I replaced the lift supports in my 81 GP and my trunk still refuses to stay open. I don't believe I put them in backward but it is possible. Any ideas?
Brand new lift supports won't support trunk. Help?

Is that a factory trunk option? I have seen the torsion bars and the big shocks off the wheel wells, but never those horizontal lifts? Have you added anything to the trunk lid? Wing, trim, etc?
Those are mounted the right way, I've found that if those struts sit on a shelf for a few years they loose pressure.
They were used up to 81/82 then switched over to the torsion bars.
