Re: Starting my signature build

I love this thread! Mainly for your engine assembly room! Reminds me of my bachelor days when I used to keep engine blocks in my kitchen. That's how I knew if a woman was worth keeping around. As soon as theay started B*^%&in' They were out. Somehow I found one smart enough to keep her mouth shut until after we got married and she delivered my twin girls. Now she complains like the rest of them did! OHHHHHH thanks for the memories!

FAR, FAR more than I anticipated!!! To include my head work, block machine work, and all the parts, I would say I have
$1500 into the engine.
I still have to get pushrods, rocker arms, an oil pan and a balancer to finish the engine

Re: Starting my signature build

What do y'all think of my valve covers? They are a cheap set of tall stamped steel chrome valve covers. I started scuffing them up to paint them black and noticed that they kind of looked like polished aluminum when you put a swirl into it. So, I decided to tape that "step up" section off along the top and then kind of fade the black on to the polished area. Then I used clear engine paint on the top to keep that part from ever rusting 8)

Valve covers look good, have any better pics of your paint scheme on them though?

Ah, I see thepaint scheme now. I thought it was glare from the flash the first time I looked. I don't like the "fade", but if you left that whole strip in the middle bare it might look neat.
